The fashion pack took to Dubai this week for Chanel’s Resort 2015 show, and if you’ve been following beauty insiders like hairstylist Jen Atkin or The Blonde Salad’s Chiara Ferragni on Instagram, you’re already well aware of how breathtaking the makeup turned out for yesterday’s show. Of course, it perfectly fit the location: Dubai is the epitome of old and new cultures blending together. Karl Lagerfeld told Style.com that the United Arab Emirates’ largest city is "the next step, the new reality…you couldn't imagine it fifty years ago."
That same balance took shape in the beauty look, where models wore a perfect mix of old and new, in an over-the-top fashion. The former included cleverly applied flecks of gold foil on the inner corners of the models’ eyes, alongside almost Egyptian-inspired smoky shadow and lashes.
Makeup artist Tom Pecheux used the brand’s forthcoming Les 4 Ombres Shadow Palette ($59) in Rêve d'Orient, Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil ($29) in Noir, Le Volume de Chanel Mascara ($30), and, of course, false lashes to get the look.
The modern touches included fresh, radiant skin and lightly glossy lips, courtesy of a mix of the brand’s Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour ($34) in Indécise and Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour ($34) in L'Eclatante under a coat of gloss.
Meanwhile, hairstylist Sam McKnight gave models sky-high bouffants that rival the Burj Khalifa (okay, maybe we’re exaggerating a little), using Oribe’s Dry Texture Spray ($42) and a Mason Pearson brush. If this is the future, consider us on-board.
