Our version of ideal first date makeup would involve peachy blush, long lashes, and a slightly glossy nude lip—a.k.a. everything Minka Kelly wore to The Daily Front Row’s first Annual Fashion Awards last week. “We wanted to do something fresh yet striking,” makeup artist Matthew Vanleeuwen says. “I achieved this by creating a soft, smoky eye for some drama, while keeping her skin and lips dewy and neutral.” A subtly flattering nude lipstick is hard to come by (just ask anyone who’s swiped on the wrong shade only to resemble the undead), which is why we had to find out the exact product Vanleeuwen used. Luckily, he was happy to divulge: Hourglass’s Femme Nude Lip Stylo ($30) in No. 3, a medium rose nude with pink undertones.
